Stencils

Stencils are a quick and easy way to decorate elegant cakes. Ice your cake with buttercream or rolled fondant. If you're using buttercream icing, allow the icing to set to a lightly crusted surface. Use piping gel or thinned buttercream icing to stencil on buttercream. Hold the stencil flat against the surface and spread icing thinly over the stencil being careful not to lift the knife in the middle of the stencil. Use tab to lift stencil from cake. Be aware that dark colors in buttercream may bleed.
